How myCFO AI works
Plain language about the AI inside myCFO: what it does, which providers it uses, what data it gets, where it can go wrong, and how to tell us when it does.
What it does
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Chat | Answers questions about your money from your workspace snapshot. |
| Categorization | Sorts transactions into spending categories. |
| Insights | Finds patterns in your spending, income, and holdings. |
| Suggestions | Picks questions from your own data, such as a spending change, an upcoming bill, or a holding that moved. |
| Briefings | Writes the daily briefing, spoken aloud when you ask for it. |
| Research | Writes reports that combine your workspace with current public information. |
You are talking to AI
When you use Chat, Research, Radar, Insights, briefings, or suggestions, some or all of the answer is generated by AI. No person reviews each answer before you see it.
Which providers it uses
myCFO AI runs on AI model providers we name here, never by model name: Anthropic and OpenCode. When an answer needs current public information, a short search query goes to Tavily, a web search service, and the public results come back. Speech for the daily briefing comes from Google, which receives the briefing text, not your account details. If you connect an AI provider yourself, that provider's terms apply to those requests.
What data each request gets
A myCFO AI request sends a summary of your workspace, such as account balances, holdings, transactions, goals, and your first name, plus a short recent conversation history. A search query is written from public terms only and never includes your name, account names, balances, transactions, or other figures. Suggestions are worded from short facts about each one, for example a category name and up to four amounts, never your full workspace, account numbers, or past questions.
What it can get wrong
AI can misread a transaction, miscalculate, rely on data that is out of date or incomplete, or state something that sounds right and is not. Projections rest on assumptions that may not hold. Check anything important against your own records before you rely on it.
What it never does
myCFO AI never moves money, never places trades, and never decides credit for you. It does not create an advisory relationship, and nothing it says is advice from a licensed professional, including in advice mode.
Advice mode
Advice mode is a beta feature, offered only to accounts we invite. It lets myCFO AI share direct views on your finances, such as whether a holding looks concentrated or which debt to pay first. It is still AI output under the Terms: it is not advice from a licensed professional, and you decide what to do.
How we check it
Before an answer reaches you, policy rules block personalized trade, tax, credit, and insurance instructions, and a classifier reviews answers that need it. We also run an adversarial test set of prompts that try to push the assistant outside its money lane, and we read the thumbs feedback you leave on answers.
How to report a bad answer
Use the thumbs down button on the answer in Chat, Research, or Radar, and tell us what was wrong. You can also email support@mycfoiq.com with the question you asked and what the answer got wrong.
